Why is my GIF capped at 15 seconds?
GIF stores every frame almost independently, so file size grows with every frame added — an uncapped long video would produce a file too large to use anywhere. Fifteen seconds matches what major GIF platforms allow; longer videos are converted from the start and clearly marked as trimmed.
Why is the GIF bigger than the original video?
GIF is a 256-color image format from 1989, not a modern video codec — it can't compress anywhere near as efficiently as MP4 or WebM. If the file is too large, pick a smaller width or a lower frame rate.
