How is PPI calculated?
Diagonal resolution in pixels — √(width² + height²) — divided by the diagonal in inches. A 27-inch 2560 × 1440 monitor works out to about 109 PPI.
How many PPI counts as sharp?
It depends on viewing distance. Around 110 PPI looks crisp on a desktop monitor at arm’s length; a phone held close benefits from 300+; a TV across the room looks fine well below 80. At the same distance, higher PPI means individual pixels are harder to see.
What is dot pitch?
The distance between the centers of two neighboring pixels, usually in millimeters — simply 25.4 divided by the PPI. Smaller is finer; monitor spec sheets often quote it alongside the resolution.
